- A luxury mansion in Highland Park once built for oil tycoon Tim Headington is getting closer to a sale after landing on the market in June for $6.4 million.
"This is not a McMansion; this has a highest level finish-out and is a one-of-a-kind, quality home," said Caroline Summers, a Realtor with Briggs Freeman Sotheby's International Realty, who is representing the seller, Albert Hill.
"I'm seeing a lot of activity with high-demand and low inventory on the market," Summers said. "It could sell at any point of time. There are people who were looking to build three years ago, but the lot prices are double what they were a year ago."
Those high land prices could bring a buyer to the 6,574-square-foot modern Mediterranean home at 4236 Lorraine Avenue in Highland Park, which was originally designed by famed architect Patrick Ford.
This year, the 13-year-old mansion underwent a renovation with design by Elizabeth Robertson.
According to the Dallas Central Appraisal District, the home is valued at nearly $3.3 million. The home's neighboring land lots (sans mansion) have sold for $3 million, Summers said.
The meticulously designed home has a grand entrance with German antique glass and Honduras cut mahogany doors at the focal point of the circular drive. The mansion includes five bedrooms, five full bathrooms and two half bathrooms.
The master suite is on the main floor and includes a private terrace, spa-like master bathroom, oversize steam shower and a porcelain pedestal bathtub. The library features beamed ceilings, hardwood shelves, and a Lueders Limestone encased fireplace.
The mansion's exterior includes a covered terrace overlooking a saltwater pool, Jacuzzi, outdoor kitchen and a 512-square-foot cabana with full bath. Want a tour? Take a look at our slideshow for an inside look at the mansion.
