Highland Park’s Randy Allen presented Grant Teaff Lifetime Achievement Award by FCA

Highland Park coach Randy Allen was named the 2013 Grant Teaff Lifetime Achievement Award winner by the Fellowship of Christian Athletes on Monday, presented with the honor at the American Football Coaches Association convention in Indianapolis.

According to the FCA’s website, the award, named after the former Baylor coach, “recognizes a coach that has committed his life to being a Christian influence on the lives of student-athletes.”

The sixth-winningest coach in Texas high school history with a 327-80-6 record in 34 seasons, Allen is only the second high school coach to win the award, joining Brownwood coaching legend Gordon Wood (2000). Allen followed Wood at Brownwood in 1986, coaching there for five seasons, and eight at his alma mater Abilene Cooper before coming to Highland Park in 1999.

Presented annually since 1998, the Teaff Lifetime Achievement Award has been given to several legendary coaches in the college and professional ranks, including Grambling’s Eddie Robinson, Arkansas’ Frank Broyles, Florida State’s Bobby Bowden, Air Force’s Fisher DeBerry and former NFL coach Tony Dungy.
